Gundam Expo Singapore 2012 is Here!

30 August 2012

Finally the Gundam Expo Singapore 2012 has began and this time at a new venue, NEX!

Personally I find the new venue refreshing as it is in a more accessible location.

The cool factor was the top of the event venue, it form a Gunpla signage on the LED lightning. How cool is that?

This year, the much talked about display was this grand model kit of MG Gundams from various modellers.

Among the display, I prefer the Samurai Gundams.

Standing in the center of the display is the RX-78-2!

There are also a section where the artwork of the celebrity contribute their custom works most of it from Taiwan.

It is really interesting to see how creative are the artists who design their own Gundam.

I have to give credit to these display Cabinets which have good looking outline of various outline arranging neatly on one end of the displays.

There are also display of the the limited edition of RX-78-2 Gundam China Special which was not on sale at the event.

Talking about Limited Edition, the clear version and the chrome version were amazing.

Many is having eye on this limited edition Pink Bearguy.

And finally the popular limited edition Gundam kit, the Megasize chrome metallic RX-78-2!!

Cherry Credits are there promoting the SD Gundam Capsule Fighter and some of the fans are picking up the games.

Many Gunpla fans were busy talking and snapping photos of the display and we have a good time.

The kids were having fun playing the Gundam AGE  GAGE-ING Machine.

Some signed up the workshop learning how to piece up the model kits.

As for the sales, it look pretty good as Gundam fans of various ages looking through the model kit and pick up some that they wanted.

Of course the great discounts play a big part of the sales! Just look at the crowd of all ages.

Another factor would be these prizes from the lucky draw that stated that there will be total 18 winners who will win a full set of Prefect grades Gundam collectiosn, Paid trip to Tokyo and other great gifts!

Sound crazy but it is no joke as I verified this print with the organizer and they confirm it is true. Can you imagine 18 person each will win the full set of PG??

Out of the event area, there were some Gundams at the garden and these are for family to enter contest to guess the numbers of Gundam too.

With all these activities, I bet the weekend would be crazy as more Gunpla fans heading to NEX for this Gundam Expo.

There are more good looking model kit on display but nothing beat catching them in person at the event.

If you are heading down the event, remember to take a photo of yourself in that event so you can enter a contest that I will be announcing later so some away can win some Gundam giveaway. :) I will annonced that shortly.  Just go snapping. :D

Be there Gundam fans!

Real Grade 1/1 Gundam Construction Set part 3

29 August 2012

Tomorrow is the day for Gundam Expo 2012 in Singapore at NEX. While counting down to the actual event, let us continue on the building of RG Gundam!

The third installment there is a giant crane which was design to hold up the Torso of RX 78-2 Gundam.

The torso was well colored with the decal painted on the kit. Usually the saber would be double on Gundam's back but since this version one of the saber will be held by Gundam's hand, it look fine with one saber on his back.

The backpack was well painted in grey.

The torso fitted on the grip of the crane well.

Beside the torso, it comes with 2 humans and one of the feet of Gundam.

The crane would have to hold the torso a bit long while the lower body of Gundam is formed. Can it hold out longer?

Well it got to hold as I will be going for Gundam Expo 2012 to take a look before I get back to this and continue. :)

Curiously I wonder what is in this good looking bag and found some goodies from with a familiar packaging. It was Gong Cha cup with STGCC event on the top of the cup. Really colorful.

Although the cups are not filled with Gong Cha, it comes with something better. It's Gong Cha coupons with I can claimed some good tea whenever I want. In the same packaging was a official media preview too!

So what is happening on STGCC 2012? I can say it is growing in numbers with more interesting guests such as Comic artist, Toy designers and famous cosplayers and bands from overseas!

Real Grade 1/1 Gundam Construction Set part 2

26 August 2012

Welcome back to the part 2 of 6 for Real Grade 1/1 Gundam Construction set. The second set is one of the important phase of construction as it is the skeleton of the Gundam.

One major compontent for this set is the base which is bigger and more grand. Having the stairs to the platform.

Like the 2011 1:1 Gundam display, there is a place where the saber rested and the light glow in the dark. On that part, it was printed with the 30th Anniversary logo.

The instruction that comes with every boxes indicate how various part of the Gundam revole around the skeleton structure.

Another part of the platform I noticed was a room which is suppose to be the control station of the light show.

As usual there were 2 human scale figure of a foreman who seems to be viewing the whole construction on a higher platform while a father and child looking interested in the leg of the Gundam.

The skeleton frame look pretty weird in this construction set. I guess it just looked naked that's all.

The rule of thumb for any construction, it is important to build a good foundation and strong structure.

This is the least good looking in the whole kit but I will not go to the extend to say this is the least important.

Real Grade 1/1 Gundam Construction Set part 1

25 August 2012

Since we are close to Gundam Expo Singapore 2012, it is time for me to share with you another Gundam collection of mine.

This is an awesome set Bandai Candy Toy: Real Grade 1/1 Gundam Construction Set which consist set of 6 parts diorama. The beauty is that they can combine into one complete Gundam.

The first part is the head and the waist of the RX 78-2 Gundam

I love the side photo and packaging of this set very much.

Since this is a construction set, Bandai had put quite a lot of effort to include scale figures like the people...

Two parts of RX78-2 are the head and the waist which comes properly painted with decal!

The base of this set comes with the description. Pretty neat.

Now I just have to put up some supporting beams and place the waist well.

Here are a closed up on RX78-2 head and the details are quite well painted

You can remove the face of the Gundam to form some part of the diorama too. Here is how the look of this set should be.

The forklift is to move the head of the Gundam and I just love the details of two personnel doing the checklist and guiding the movement.

Continue to set 2 now!
