Hasbro Starwars The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon

By now I guess many of you should have watched Starwars The Force Awakens so don't blame this toy review for Starwars Spoilers.

Anyway It is always a Starwars fan child dream in the 80s to have it's own Millennium Falcon and as the new movie release, there are various channel to get a Millennium Falcon by various manufacturers which come in different sizes.

There was some decision among the collectors which is the best Millennium falcon between LEGO version and the Hasbro version. I hope after this review you guys would know better as this is the Hasbro version for the 3.75" collectors.

Out of box, this version of Millennium Falcon look awesome!!

The basic paint work look decent and there are some stickers already apply for you like the back engine.

If you are wondering what is the size, here is my hand on the whole Millennium Falcon for reference. It's huge!

This version comes with 3 figures and they are Finn, BB-8 and Chewbacca. (I do not know why they put Finn but Rey will be more accurate as you know Han Solo figure for Hasbro is no where seen...)

The only thing you need to do is to paste some stickers which could be fun for some kids and the stickers are pretty big.

First thing I check it out was the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon...

Here is where you paste most of the stickers by following the instruction and after pasting the stickers, it look great!

Time to get the figures to play around with it.

Chewbacca seems to fill up the cockpit by itself but he look great.

Can we fit another figure as their are two seats??

Well you can put both figures but it appear to be quite cramp... Nevermind because one figure suppose to fit the Gunner station.

Yes there is a Gunner station and it can be activated by pressing the side button and it would spring out. Remember this is a playset so it is not that movie accurate when this is activated but to kids it is where the fun begin!

You must first open the hatch of this unit to fit in the figure. Time to get Finn in as he is a good gunner than a pilot.

When you fit him inside, you can actually see the cockpit of the gun station. Don't worry, those stickers are already applied in the factory.

Once you press the side button for the shooting effect, the back of the panel will light up which is the old memory of the aiming unit graph.

Personally it look quite good as there are so many canon blaster to be offensive.

Actually the fun does not end there, since this is Hasbro's product, they integrated the NERF in it too and do it as a bonus and the collector can have a choice to activate it or not. So once activated by pressing on another side button, the big Nerf blaster will be expose and fire a Nerf dart it will.

There are both sides to store up to 4 NERF darts and by default it will come with 2. These are standard NERF darts so if you are NERF player you can use the same Darts should be fine.

As I say this is a bonus, if you only want it to be movie accurate, you can choose not to switch to this mode by pressing a button. Although my kid somehow like this mode more for fun reason which I can understand.

As this is a playset, it make sense to show what is inside the Millennium Falcon and it is all true. The Dark side, the Jedi and what not. You can open the back compartment and the glory of the Millennium Falcon is what we remember and more.

The walk way is there and if you put a BB-8 it look great with a hyper drive for you to turn the sound of the flight movement on or off on the right of the screen.

The iconic chess table and seats are there for playing.

On the other end is Chewbacca's spot where he rest... you guys better keep quiet as he don't like to be disturb.

Since the figures come with accessories like their blasters there is a compartment to store these accessories. .

The extension allow you to put more figures to display or play with it with a canon to shoot some imagination Tie-Fighters.

You can pack all these back to Millennium Falcon again easily and if you want to fly around with sound you can do so with two hands as the sound is sensitive to your movement and will come to rest once you place it on a flat ground.

Here is my kid holding this Millennium Falcon which he kept playing for hours since I open this for review and still do not want to pass it back to me....

I hope this review will provide you some consider point to choose to get this Millennium Falcon as it is kid's friendly, great in scale and features.

This is the Millennium Falcon as good as it gets if you want to play and display but play with it especially if you are a Father as it would be a good bonding of one generation experience to another.

That being said, it is time to jump to light speed as this is the last post of the year to a New Year.

May the Force be with you. Always.

29 December 2015

Since Bandai is releasing a series of Macross figure under Hi-Metal R, it would also be releasing the villains mecha, Glaug.

The would be the leader type mecha with arms of blasters and a canon on top of it.

The cockpit can be opened reviling the pilot's seat but there isn't any pilot which is lacking for the fans.

It is also pose-able with movement of it's arms, elbow, legs, feet and the canon on the top.

This would look great if you have the rest of the villain alien's mecha.

This Hi-METAL R MACROSS Glaug is schedule to release in May 2016 at 13,000Yen.

As a fan, you have to consider is it worth it but fans you have limited choice so you got to save for it.

My Starwars The Force Awakens Review

I think the time is right for me to do a personal review of the Starwars Episode VII The Force Awakens review. If by now you have not watch the movie, you are not that into Starwars and the spoilers ahead won't make any difference to you anyway. :P

Spoilers ahead and do not read if you have not watched the movie.

Personally I caught it on the 17th December 2015 which was the first day of Starwars release with my son. In the cinema when the title of the Starwars appear and the anthem start (Yes I use the word Anthem because it is fitting to use that term for Starwars fans), I recall the memories of me watching all the Starwars episode on the big screens but this time beside me is not a friend but my son. I hope he do enjoy these movie as I do.

There and then when the prologue word is playing, I was praying hard that this movie will not be a let down like episode 1... You may asked why I compare this with Episdoe 1, that is simply because it is a mark of a new trilogy which you have no idea what the whole story is about. Like many fans, I was deceived to think Episode 1 was awesome because of the trailer that have lightsaber fight and Darth Maul but when I was watching the movie at the end of the battle in Naboo and saw the Jar Jar running, I was doubting am I watching Starwars.... Enough about that, let's focus on The Force Awakens.

The Force Awakens very much shadow on the formula of A New Hope
The Movie begins with attack of the Empire and wanting to capture a important information. Within the few minutes, the "Dark Lord" appear and instead of Darth Vader, it is Kylo Ren. The important information is handed on to a Droid (Instead of R2-D2, it is BB-8) and it escaped but the person who handed the information was captured (Instead of Leia, this time is Poe).

BB-8 will be in the wilderness and be found at the hand of a hero and later this BB-8 will hand the information back to the rebel base. To do that, the hero and BB-8 need a vessel and you guess which is the vessel? Millennium falcon. The hero will later meet Chewbacca and Han Solo which take them to the rebel base.

Remember in the New Hope Leia was captured and the Han and the hero go to rescue her in the Deathstar? Well this also happen as Finn, Han and Chewy decided to rescue Rey.

The hero discover the Force and that happen to Rey but this time there is not from a master but something that she see what Kylo Ren did that she follow after.

The Empire new Ultimate weapon is a bigger DeathStar and it did destroy some planets instead of one.

The Rebel is once again running against time to destroy the new DeathStar as the DeathStar is counting down to destroy the rebel base and you guess the ending by now.

So above are all the similarity and to Starwars fan. Although some complain there is not much originality,  it is something familiar, something that is Starwars fan will feel home as Episode VII should start of something that old fans can relate. But above it all, it is an episode for the new and the old character come into the picture as the lime light is needed to past from the old characters to the new.

The director did a good job for this linking as this is an important episode to save the franchise and he has won back the fans since the Episode 1 and 3 was heavily criticised with valid reasons of course.I personally think this episode set a stage for Episode VII onward for the director to go on the free play of the storyline because of the following.

The audience accepted the new characters
By the end of this movie, you will be rooted for Rey which is the least you really care about when the movie begin as you thought the Jedi would be Finn or Poe. No one expect a girl to be the Jedi and the actress acted well (even this was her first movie) and won me over. A intelligent and finesse character and not losing any lady like. It is still a mystery of  her origin of who she is. Will she be seduce to the dark side of the force?

The old characters are still around to link the Starwars franchise
At the end of the movie, you get a glimpse of the next chapter as Rey will finally meet up with the long lost Luke Skywalker. Many are wondering how the Jedi training would be and is Luke still sane? Will she trained Rey like he trained Ren which failed?

Darkside need to be balance
For the next episode would very much a dark episode and a grand closing at the final episode that I am certain. But the questions remain how and what. So far many characters are "Grey" in nature. There are still the ultimate darkside boss to face-off. How would it be played out?

This certainly keep a Starwars fan like me to be interested.

As for my son, what he cares about was the the Droids....yes BB-8 and R2-D2. He light up when he see them on screen and he is not quite as impress with the battle and the lightsaber fights....At least I am pleased he kept quiet during those scene. LOL

On the side news, it was said all the old characters will be appearing on Episode VIII including you know who.

So do you enjoy Starwars The Force Awakens too?

Nendoroid Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Order Storm Trooper

So The Force Awakens had started and time for more figures to be announce. This week, Good Smile Company is releasing pre-product shot of the First Order Trooper.

For the Nendoroid design it almost certainly win the heart for those who love Cute style Stormtroopers.

It look great on every angle and this is one of those Nendoroid who did not need extra expression as Stormtrooper already look good by itself.

The only accessories is only it's own Blasters as in the first product photo...maybe in time they will release more accessories. Who knows...

It does give you extra limbs to do the running with the help of a stand for balance...

Sadly this Nendoroid from Good Smile will only release in July 2016 at the 4,200 Yen. Well it is good in a way for fans to have time to budget their spending as they are so much Starwars toys to buy.

I will review more Starwars toys in the following post.

May the Force be with you.

ENTERBAY 1/6 IP Man 3 is Hot

IP Man 3 《葉問3》 would be screening soon and this week the 1/6 action figure is currently on sales in Hongkong Toy Soul 2015.

This figure capture the true likeness of the actor even the look in his eye. I am impressed.

As a Kungfu master, he was also given accessories like a Bo.

And also two short close-up sabers. He was also given two suits instead of 1.

Of course as a Kung Fu master, he work best with his bare hands Wing Chun style fist.

The set comes with all these accessories including different hands and training wooden stand for his Wing Chun training daily.

The backdrop have two side one showing the backdrop of a grand hall another is a cement wall. What interest me was the sign-age of his Wing Chun....

This is purely the IP Man 3 movie edition and it look really awesome as IP Man is older now...

This figure is price at HKD $1,480. The movie will be releasing on Christmas Day in Asia and his opponent in the movie is Mike Tyson and one may ask would there be Mike Tyson?

That is a question of licensing and market demand but this IP Man is HOT!

Hasbro Starwars Captain Phasma

The saga continue as I will be reviewing Hasbro 3.75" Captain Phasma from The Force Awakens series.

When I saw this figure  before I even get to see the movie, this captain seems to be a unique character amount the rest of the Strom troopers. As the suit look so different and cool. Although in the trailers the suit suppose to be more chrome but this figure just give it a matte silver look.

Now the only information I get from this figure before the movie actually shown was Captain Phasma is a female. Yes a female which on the figure, I cannot see any obvious sign that it is a SHE....

One thing I do notice was the cape seems to have some special compartment or patch works as it is shown in the figure....

I bet she should be quite good in battle as it is rare to see a female Captain in the rank....I have not even seen female leaders in the empire forces in the past 6 trilogies....

Here is the size comparison with Kylo Ren which he appear to be taller but in the actual movie and in real life, the actress of Captain Phasma is taller.

She comes with just two accessories which was the blaster and a saw like weapons...

On the instruction, the Saw was supposed to hold in this manner...

But when put on the actual figure, the figure seems to have balance issue holding that pose...

Well here we go again....

Well I hope in the movie Captain Phasma won't act like this but there could be some truth in it. LOL

We shall wait to see how Captain Phasma would be like if she is still as cool as she appear with her shinning armour suit.

Tomorrow is the day the Force will be awaken in Singapore so I will catch it and share my review here. LOL
